In part 1 of today’s Mobile News, there’s official announcements, surprising developments and a whole lot more revolving around the international CES 2012 and the mobile phone and tablet industries.

Let’s start things off with Nokia who is emphasising their efforts on expanding their brand in US markets. We branch from there to a quick byte on Windows Phones and a new app.

AT&T Gets Lumina 900 Nod

Well, it’s official: Nokia and AT&T announced that the Nokia Lumina 900, Nokia’s US flagship mobile phone, will be first marketed by AT&T, much to the carrier’s delight.

Experts and users alike have waited anxiously for the release of the new smartphone, and from what was found when a production model was in hand, there is reason to celebrate its forthcoming retailer appearance.

Larger than the Lumina 800, the mobile phone presents a bigger, AMOLED screen that cuts down glare and holds images truly at angled sight. The ClearBlack background does make images seem a bit sharper, which is good news for everyone.

Unfortunately, Nokia might have forgotten the front-facing camera from the Nokia 800. It has a kick-[bleep] rear camera, but users won’t have the video calling option on this model.

Alas, there’s been no word on when the Nokia Lumina 900 will hit the market, but they haven’t announced its cost yet either.

WikiTude App Hits WP Models

WikiTude, one of the top Augmented Reality (AR) browsers, has an app for Windows Phone models. Just download, activate, point your rear camera at an object learn all about it.

You can also use the app to find nearby landmarks or other points of interest – restaurants, hotels and such – that users have noted previously. WikiTude states that you can also find tweets posted nearby.

The app works with the WP 7.5 Mango, for that OS version has the compatibility; update your phone or challenge Ben for either $100 or a new Windows Phone smartphone.
